The FIR was registered on November 7, based on a complaint filed by social activist Prakash Bankar. It was against the Khiladi app, one of the subsidiaries of the Mahadev app. The app is run and promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, alongwith several other associates and partners. According to the complainant’s statement in the FIR, Mohit Burman and Gaurav Burman allegedly had links to one of the bookies for match fixing in cricket leagues.

However, the industrialists have denied all the allegations and also said that they had no knowledge of any FIR naming them. “We have not received any communication on any such FIR. If this information is indeed true, it appears to be a mischievous act driven by malicious intent and is devoid of any facts. We categorically deny the allegations and firmly believe that a thorough investigation will vindicate our position and demonstrate the unfounded nature of these allegations,” a statement released by a Burman family spokesperson read.

“We trust that the legal process will unveil the true nature of this malicious attempt to tarnish our reputation,” it added. In the FIR, Chander Agarwal and Dinesh Khambat are named as London residents and the main bookies for match fixing in cricket matches held in India. Chander Agrawal has backdoor partnerships in the leagues and is helped by one Hemant Sood from Dubai and one Rohit Kumar Murgoi. The FIR alleges that Mohit Burman and Gaurav Burman had links to Dinesh Khambat and Rohit Kumar Murgoi. It also states that the industrialists have equity stakes in one of the teams in the cricket league, and that they have partnered with one other accused.

The complainant also stated that the investigation would lead to more details and evidence about the industrialists’ participation in match-fixing. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the Mahadev betting app case. The probe agency had filed a chargesheet in the case which named 14 people, including Sourabh Chandrakar , Ravi Uppal, along with other accused Vikas Chhapariya, Chandrabhushan Verma, Satish Chandrakar, Anil Dammani, Sunil Dammani, Vishal Ahuja and Dheeraj Ahuja. Several Bollywood actors were also under scanner as they had promoted the illegal betting app which included actor Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Nushrat Bharucha, Sunny Leone and others.
